Written for those with a love for lashing/spanking, I believe. The thing is, I'm not one of those readers.What touches me is the aftercare, the nursing of such injuries which inevitably leads to intimacy. Suffice it to say, I didn't find what I was looking for in this book. That might over been a mere detail if the sex wasn't so disappointing. It literally lasted two paragraphs, not even a page, during both intimate scenes. The terms were more like those used in an anatomy class. About the only thing the book had going for it was the lashing/spanking heat throughout. It wasn't scorching by any means, but better, I suppose, than books which label themselves erotic and read like Hallmark romances with sex thrown in.
Bottom line: Love and Lashes isn't good or bad. It's just kinda there. I feel like the author could have done a better job if they'd put more time and thought into it. As it is, it reads like something written for a quick buck, because sex scenes are definitely not this author's forte. Perhaps they should write gay romance instead.

This was an okay M/M historical short story read. This was the first I've read by Leo David. I appreciated his attention to historical detail and felt like I was on the ship with the men.
This story didn't have much romance build up but there was a spark between the two sailors. It will appeal to those who like bdsm spanking/whipping. The aftercare was well written.
